SALARY RANGE: $25.00 - $25.00 Per Hour
This position is temporary, part time, 20 hours per week.

The Capital Defender's Office is seeking a qualified candidate to assist staff with office processes to include but not limited to opening of new cases; processing of appointments and expert funding requests.
- office management practices and procedures used to organize and maintain the office
- court system practices, forms and procedures to respond to questions as they arise
- NC General Statutes related to criminal defense
- general office computer software and hardware
- computer technology
- audio-visual equipment
- digital files
- MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
- explain office procedures to judicial personnel and the public
- analyze and interpret information and make necessary decisions with accuracy
- prepare forms and legal documents
- transcribe material in prescribed format with a high degree of accuracy using proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling to produce legal documents
- work well with others
- organize and complete work by specific guidelines
- work independently
- High school diploma and three (3) years of legal clerical experience; or completion of a two-year legal Secretarial Science or Business Administration Associate Degree and one (1) year of responsible legal secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
