Essential Job Duties
The Temporary Business Officer provides financial and administrative support to the department by managing day-to-day financial transactions, processing vouchers and other financial documents, entering and maintaining accurate information in People Soft Financials, and supporting the overall administrative operations of the office. The position will ensure transactions are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with university and state financial policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Process financial transactions and related documentation in accordance with NC State University and state spending guidelines.
- Prepare, review, and process vouchers and other financial documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and appropriate supporting documentation.
- Enter and maintain financial transactions in People Soft Financials and ensure information is accurate and up to date.
- Review transactions for compliance with applicable university policies, procedures, and spending guidelines.
- Assist with researching and resolving discrepancies or issues related to financial transactions.
- Maintain organized electronic and paper financial records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with tracking departmental expenditures and financial activity.
- Use Microsoft Excel to organize, track, and analyze financial information and prepare reports or spreadsheets as needed.
- Provide administrative support for the department’s day-to-day business operations.
- Serve as a point of contact for routine financial and administrative questions and communicate professionally with faculty, staff, vendors, and university offices.
- Coordinate with appropriate university offices to resolve transaction-related questions or issues.
- Assist with Market Place, journals, vouchers, and other university financial processes as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling financial and administrative information.
- Perform other related financial and administrative duties as assigned.
