Description of WorkJob postings close at 11:59:59 p.m. the night before the listed Posting End Date above. This is a Confidential Secretary position. This position is open only to current NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services employees—including temporary employees (hired directly or through Temporary Solutions)—and former NCDA&CS employees eligible for RIF priority reemployment under G.S. 126. This position provides executive-level support to the Chief of Staff and works alongside the Commissioner’s Assistant and another Chief of Staff’s Assistant to support the day-to‑day operations of the executive office.
Responsibilities include complex scheduling, meeting coordination, research, correspondence, constituent and stakeholder communications, travel coordination, and administrative support. Serves primarily as an assistant to the Chief of Staff while also assisting with communications and coordination with internal and external partners, including department staff, constituents, community organizations, agricultural industry leaders, legislative and government offices, and other stakeholders. Prepares briefing materials and information for meetings, tracks follow‑up items and correspondence, and helps ensure executive priorities and schedules are effectively managed.

Recruitment Range: $45,431- $70,000 Skilled in practicing effective communication techniques, both orally and in writing Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, officials, and the general public Experience in planning, prioritizing and organizing office work flow and procedures Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe to Learn more about State Employee Benefits.
