The Senior IT Portfolio & Governance Lead supports the execution and continuous improvement of IT portfolio management and governance processes across the IT organization. This role coordinates demand intake, prioritization activities, portfolio reporting, and governance administration to help ensure initiatives are evaluated consistently and aligned with business priorities. The position partners with project managers, resource managers, and business stakeholders to maintain portfolio data, facilitate governance processes, and support informed decision-making.
This position partners closely with IT and business leadership, as well as project and resource managers, to ensure governance practices are applied consistently and effectively. The successful candidate brings strong business acumen, analytical thinking, and communication skills, along with deep experience in PMO and Project Portfolio Management (PPM) frameworks and tools. This role requires strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills, and a commitment to providing guidance and support to project teams while maintaining a high standard of data integrity and confidentiality.
This position is part of the IT PMO within the Digital Enablement (Office of the CIO) group and will be a Remote position located in the USA. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
+ Support and continuously improve IT portfolio governance processes , including demand intake, prioritization, portfolio reviews, reporting activities, governance administration, and evaluation of initiatives against established business priorities and capacity constraints.
+ Maintain portfolio data integrity and governance visibility by supporting adherence to governance standards, preparing portfolio reports, dashboards, metrics, and analytics, and facilitating governance discussions, decision-making, and continuous improvement activities.
+ Support PMO process adoption and operational excellence through continuous improvement of PMO processes, tools, operating procedures, governance practices, stakeholder engagement, and communication initiatives that promote awareness and understanding of PMO services and standards.
+ Develop and maintain PMO tools, templates, and knowledge assets , including governance artifacts, demand and portfolio management templates, project lifecycle documentation, knowledge repositories, and project information used in governance reviews, while ensuring consistency and accuracy across project repositories.
+ Provide guidance, training, and support to project managers, resource managers, and project teams on PMO processes, tools, templates, methodologies, portfolio management practices, and governance requirements.
The essential requirements of the job include:
+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
+ 5+ years of experience supporting PMO operations, portfolio management, governance, demand management, or related functions, including 3-5 years of experience working with project and portfolio management methodologies.
+ Experience supporting project or program delivery activities within IT organizations, including preparation of portfolio reports, governance materials, dashboards, and executive presentations.
+ Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to support governance processes and effectively collaborate across cross-functional teams.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Copilot, to support portfolio management, reporting, and governance activities.
