Camp JCC Madrichim (counselors) are positive role models who supervise and engage campers, plan activities, and work as part of a team with a positive attitude, flexibility, and energy throughout each day.

Minimum Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION S

  • Protect the health and safety (emotional and physical) of all campers
  • Provide experiences that promote individual and group growth
  • Actively participate in all aspects of the camp experience with the campers
  • Serve as a role model for young children while emphasizing Jewish values
  • Follow the assigned work schedule and specific camp group schedule
  • Plan and lead activities for group times, transition times, and other programs as determined by supervisor(s)
  • Participate in all camper activities and interact with the campers during these activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least a rising Junior in High School
  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in a day camp setting. Desire and ability to work with children and teens
  • Ability to relate to one's peer group
  • Ability to accept supervision and guidance
  • CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are required . There may be an opportunity to get these certificates in a pre-camp training
  • Must possess integrity, adaptabil ity, enthusiasm, patience, thoughtfulness, and self-control
  • Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality, and sportsmanship
  • Positive, "can do" attitude which is demonstrated by a willingness to pitch in and help wherever needed as well as an ability to anticipate what is needed
  • Must be physically able to work outdoors in different weather conditions, including heat.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Applicant must be available to work Monday through Friday, June8 through August 14 (8 weeks of camp plus staff week) from 8:30 a.m. to4:00 p.m.
