Description

Construction Managers are Dennis Group’s project site supervisors that oversee the daily operations of construction activities, including coordination of sub‑contractors, site safety programs, project schedule, and project budget. Projects involve designing and building food and beverage process facilities (industrial / MEP projects) requiring coordination with multiple engineering groups and designers/architects. The construction manager is a skilled communicator, able to interact with all levels of personnel, coordinate meetings, and possesses strong technical skills to work with multiple software programs.

The Construction Manager ensures project progression by providing attention and coordination in both field and office construction management tasks. Key responsibilities include contract administration, project planning and scheduling, project reporting, and advisory roles on project management issues and activities.

Site Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Daily supervision of construction activities, including coordination of subcontractors and site safety programs.
  • Oversight/supervision of assigned field engineers or Jr. Construction Managers when directed.
Responsibilities
  • Works autonomously on overseeing medium‑sized projects.
  • Works with project management on developing and updating scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Project accounting, budgeting, and cost management.
  • Establishes and maintains site safety procedures with the safety team.
  • Oversees process, mechanical, and utility equipment installations.
  • Permitting, code, and regulatory administration and approval.
  • Change order and general construction administration.
  • Coordination of field engineering.
  • Inspection coordination.
  • Manages third‑party testing, inspection, and relationships.
  • Researches construction management best practices.
  • Client‑facing: works collaboratively with owners, subs, building officials, and A/E team.
  • Prepares and administers third‑party agreements.
  • Conducts job‑site walk audits to ensure project progress and subcontractors follow plans per schedule.
  • Procures project services and equipment (rentals, PPE, etc.).
  • Supports and coordinates facility start‑up.
  • Prepares and maintains project reports and logs.
  • Coordinates with subcontractors for schedule compliance and determines alternative resources or options.
  • Reviews and maintains submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Works with Project Controllers and Project Manager on supplier invoices and client billing.
  • Performs engineering calculations.
  • Assists in preparing work plans and work packages.
  • Interprets drawings and specifications for field crews.
  • Manages project punch‑list inspection.
  • Promotes continuous and productive communication among project participants, including internal and external clients and partners.
  • Coordinates project close‑out activities.
  • Provides safety responsibilities in different varieties and capabilities.
  • Supports talent growth within the organization.
  • Coaches and/or mentors a subordinate group when directed by supervisor.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction science, building science, construction engineering, or a related field (strongly preferred).
  • Design‑build experience on industrial projects (strongly preferred).
  • Experience overseeing subcontractors and driving project schedule.
  • Client interaction experience – strong technical, organizational, managerial, and communication skills.
  • Progressively responsible job‑site experience on industrial building projects.
  • Fundamental understanding of all phases of construction and ability to read and interpret construction documents, schedules, and budgets.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Up to 100% travel to projects throughout the USA and possible Canada.
  • Work schedule:

    10 days onsite, 4 days off.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, and prolonged periods standing and walking around a project site with uneven surfaces.
