Progressive Safety Management is seeking experienced Site Safety and Health Officers for anticipated construction project opportunities across the United States.
The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, show strong attention to detail, and believe in a team-oriented approach. Candidates must have construction safety experience and be comfortable working independently while managing their time, responsibilities, and project safety requirements.
Progressive Safety Management is currently building a pool of qualified candidates for upcoming project needs. There is not a specific project or guaranteed start date associated with this posting. Qualified candidates will be contacted as opportunities become available based on their experience, location, availability, travel preferences, and compensation requirements.
What You Will Do- Interact with project site personnel, project owner representatives, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
- Serve as the Site Safety and Health Officer or designated project safety representative.
- Communicate safety and health requirements to project personnel.
- Implement and maintain the project-specific Accident Prevention Plan.
- Review and assist with Activity Hazard Analyses.
- Prepare daily safety narratives identifying observations, corrective actions, and noted deficiencies.
- Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and employee orientations.
- Conduct or assist with incident and near-miss investigations.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA requirements, EM 385 requirements, client requirements, and project specifications.
- Identify unsafe conditions and work practices and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Maintain required onsite safety records, inspection documentation, training records, and project files.
- Coordinate with project management, supervision, quality control personnel, and subcontractors.
- Exercise stop-work authority when serious hazards or imminent danger conditions are identified.
- Minimum of five years of construction safety experience.
- Previous experience managing or implementing construction safety requirements in the field.
- Previous experience serving as an SSHO or project safety professional preferred.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction.
- Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards.
- Knowledge of EM 385 requirements preferred.
- Experience with Accident Prevention Plans and Activity Hazard Analyses preferred.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred.
- Professional safety certification preferred, including CSP, CHST, ASP, SMS, OHST, or equivalent.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare professional daily reports and maintain accurate safety documentation.
- Ability to work independently and manage project responsibilities.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Federal construction experience, including work with USACE, NAVFAC, the Department of Defense, or the Department of Veterans Affairs, is strongly preferred.
Candidates must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
