Join a Premier Heavy Civil Contractor

An established, family-owned heavy civil contractor with a decades-long reputation for excellence is actively seeking an experienced Estimator to join its growing team. This organization specializes in site development, heavy highway, grading, excavation, underground utilities, and roadway construction, delivering projects ranging from commercial developments to large municipal infrastructure work. The company has been serving the Raleigh-Durham market for over 90 years and is known for its long-term stability, modern equipment, and collaborative culture.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for heavy civil and site development projects.
  • Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, grading, utilities, paving, and roadway work.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Analyze labor, equipment, and material costs to develop complete bid proposals.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks as needed.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and potential project risks.
  • Collaborate with project managers and operations to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to construction.
  • Maintain current market pricing and assist with bid strategy.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Experience estimating site development, earthwork, underground utilities, roadway, or heavy highway projects.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret civil plans and specifications.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is a plus.
