The successful candidate will manage subcontractors and cross-functional teams while maintaining quality, safety, schedule, budget, and client-service objectives.
Responsibilities:- Oversee project execution to ensure work complies with contract requirements, specifications, approved submittals, and quality standards.
- Manage project document control, communications, and coordination across engineering, operations, quality, commissioning, fabrication, purchasing, and field teams.
- Lead subcontractor management, including scope alignment, contract administration, schedule coordination, change management, and performance accountability.
- Direct safety planning, inspections, audits, and high-risk construction activities; ensure subcontractors, vendors, and project personnel follow safe work practices.
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules, manpower plans, labor productivity tracking, workforce forecasts, and recovery strategies.
- Oversee procurement strategy, subcontract administration, equipment rentals, and major purchasing decisions.
- Review financial reports, identify project risks and opportunities, and implement corrective actions to support project goals.
- Serve as the primary contact for owners, general contractors, design teams, and other key stakeholders while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Establish project operating plans by reviewing contract obligations and exclusions, developing budgets and cost codes, creating schedules of values, planning logistics, and leading project startup meetings.
- Direct development of material matrices and fabrication plans, including modularization strategy, work-package sequencing, skid and breakout planning, fabrication labor assumptions, and delivery logistics.
- Own change management, billing, and forecasting by pricing changes, documenting cost and schedule impacts, negotiating change orders, maintaining cash-positive billing, and updating cost-to-complete forecasts.
- Ensure MOPs, disruption plans, RFIs, ASIs, bulletins, and design or contract changes are prepared, approved, distributed, and incorporated into current project documents.
- Lead project closeout activities, including commissioning and prefunctional documentation, O&M manuals, final billing and waivers, committed-cost cleanup, and project debriefs with actionable lessons learned.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Project Manager in mechanical construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent proven construction management experience.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and construction practices, with the ability to interpret project documents and support successful delivery.
- Knowledge of HVAC and piping systems, building products, construction details and design, applicable regulations, and quality standards preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Viewpoint, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud/ACC Build, and Bluebeam.
- Working knowledge of Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, with willingness to further develop scheduling expertise.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to tailor communication to the needs of different audiences.
- Excellent time management, organization, and project management skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and leverage individual strengths to achieve shared project goals.
- Self-motivated approach to continuous learning, feedback, professional development, and goal setting.
- Confidence in technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to research unfamiliar issues to develop well-informed solutions.
