Position Overview
Student Assistant for NC State Libraries technology spaces, including the Makerspace, Gaming & VR Studio, Digital Media Lab, Media Studios, and Gaming and Esports Lab. Responsibilities include customer service, technical assistance, and reservation management.
Key Responsibilities- Assist patrons with 3D printing, electronics prototyping, sewing, video editing, 3D scanning, audio production, graphic design, VR, PC and video gaming, streaming software, and 3D modeling.
- Welcome visitors, answer questions, and provide introductions to the facilities.
- Handle reservations for dedicated workstations and media booths.
- Develop and teach workshops, edit podcasts and videos, and explore new technologies.
- Learn policies and multi‑step procedures and work independently.
- Interact with patrons from diverse academic disciplines, backgrounds, and experience levels.
- Currently enrolled undergraduate student.
- Interest or familiarity with audio/music production, graphic design, photography, video editing, 3D design, digital fabrication, crafting, game design, gaming platforms, streaming tools, common gaming and esports titles or software, and web development.
- Comfortable with technology (software and hardware).
- Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional tasks.
Varies:
Sunday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Availability may include nights, weekends, and university holidays.
$13 per hour.
