Overview
Responsible for assisting with the effective and safe daily operations of an admission-based swimming facility. The position will be responsible for operating the POS register, following the City of Raleigh's cash handling procedures, balancing daily revenues, assisting with answering the telephone, handling guest requests and comments, processing admissions, memberships, and program registrations through various computer applications. The cashier must retain information about site amenities, fees, and directions to meet the needs of park patrons, answer their questions, and perform general duties as required.
The position involves physical movement, working in an indoor and outdoor setting, in all types of weather.
- Operate the POS register and handle admission fees, memberships, and program registrations.
- Balance daily revenues in accordance with the City of Raleigh cash handling procedures.
- Answer phones, assist with guest requests and comments, and provide excellent customer service to the public.
- Maintain knowledge of site amenities, fees, and directions to meet patron needs.
- Assist with maintaining and cleaning the facility, move and set up equipment for programs, and enforce facility rules and guidelines.
- Handle paperwork properly and attend all required City training courses.
- Follow safety protocols to ensure the well-being of staff and the public.
- Applicants should be well-rounded, organized, and self-starters with strong communication and customer service skills; able to work with diverse populations and handle conflict resolution.
- Ability to speak and write in English fluently; bilingual ability is helpful but not required.
- Reliable transportation; flexible hours due to varying seasonal schedules; facilities operate Monday to Sunday, including holidays.
- Applicants must be at least 15 years of age; prior experience in a recreation facility is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, active environment; strong awareness of safety protocols.
- Demonstrated cash handling, computer applications, and POS operation skills; basic math for deposits, timecards, and related paperwork.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions, work independently and as part of a team, and communicate clearly in written and verbal forms.
- Physical requirements:
climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. - Medium work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Work is performed both inside and outside; exposure to extreme cold and heat (below 32 degrees and above 100 degrees) for periods longer than one hour; noise levels sufficient to shout to be heard above ambient.
