We are seeking a highly creative and technically skilled Senior Industrial Designer to join our Design & Experience team in our Research Triangle Park (Raleigh, NC) office. This position will play a key role in shaping the next generation of medical and aesthetic technology products by transforming user insights, clinical needs, and business objectives into compelling product solutions.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and exceptional storyteller with strong ideation and design development skills who thrives at the intersection of user needs, technology, and business strategy. Working closely with Industrial Design, User Experience, Engineering, Product Management, Clinical, Regulatory, and Marketing teams, the Senior Industrial Designer will lead the creation of products and experiences that balance usability, safety, functionality, serviceability, manufacturability, and brand differentiation.
This role offers the opportunity to influence globally deployed medical technologies while helping redefine the future of aesthetic and dermatologic care through thoughtful, user-centered design.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Product Design & Development Lead industrial design activities across multiple product development programs.
Generate innovative concepts through sketching, visualization, prototyping, and design exploration.
Translate user insights and business requirements into compelling product solutions.
Develop product architectures, form language systems, CMF strategies, and detailed design specifications.
Create high-quality design documentation to support engineering, manufacturing, and supplier engagement.
Support products through development, validation, and commercialization.
User-Centered Design Advocate for the voice of the user throughout the product development process.
Evaluate designs considering:
User needs and workflows
Ergonomics and human factors
Safety and risk mitigation
Functionality and performance
Serviceability and maintenance
Environmental considerations
Competitive benchmarking and market trends
Participate in user research activities, usability studies, and observational research.
Communication & Storytelling Develop compelling design narratives that communicate opportunity, strategy, and design rationale.
Create executive-level presentations that effectively convey concepts and recommendations to stakeholders.
Present design work confidently to leadership teams, customers, and development partners.
Facilitate workshops, design reviews, and collaborative ideation sessions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with User Experience, Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing teams.
Support integrated physical and digital product experiences.
Contribute to design process improvements, standards, and best practices.
Mentor junior designers and contribute to a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Minimum
Requirements & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (minimum four-year degree) in Industrial Design from an accredited university.
7+ years of professional industrial design experience.
Experience designing and launching complex products from concept through commercialization.
Experience in medical devices, consumer electronics, or related technology-driven industries.
Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional ideation, problem solving, and product development capabilities.
Expert-level concept generation, sketching, rendering, and visualization skills.
Proficiency with:
Solid Works, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Rapid prototyping and visualization tools
Experience utilizing AI-enabled design, research, visualization, and development tools within the product development process.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and product development methodologies.
Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
Ability to synthesize technical, user, market, and business requirements into actionable design solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in medical device development and regulated environments.
Experience collaborating closely with User Experience (UX) teams to create integrated hardware and software experiences.
Familiarity with human factors engineering and usability methodologies.
Experience working with global suppliers and manufacturing partners.
