Job Description

Shape the future of critical infrastructure and communities across the nation. As a Project Architect at CDM Smith, you'll lead and collaborate on complex, high-impact projects ranging from water and wastewater facilities, transit centers, and federal installations to industrial campuses, and workplace environments. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, planners, and technical specialists, you'll have the opportunity to influence design solutions, mentor emerging professionals, and help deliver projects that make a lasting impact on the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and work with junior staff to plan, program, and formulate building design and prepare design presentation and construction contract documents.
  • Develop building design criteria directly with clients. Lead preparation of presentation materials and make presentations.
  • Lead development and coordination of building design and construction contract documents with architectural and multi-discipline engineering staff.
  • Guide and mentor junior architectural staff on multi-discipline projects and pursuit of licensure.
  • Determination of construction materials, technologies and methodologies for detailing. and specifications.
  • Preparation and editing of technical specifications.
  • Confirm compliance with applicable planning, zoning, and building codes and regulations, including coordination with agencies having jurisdiction.
  • Support development of project budgets and schedules, both internal and external.
  • Support sales, overseeing the creation of proposal renderings and documents in response to client request for proposals.
Skills & Abilities
  • Solid technical knowledge and design application knowledge.
  • Expert knowledge of technologies and methodologies in the use of construction materials.
  • Expert knowledge of Building Information Modeling and software, preferably Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), preferably AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with rendering software programs and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu.
  • Expert knowledge of basic business office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • Must possess RA certification.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
