Overview

The Division of Academic & Student Affairs (DASA) is where students discover connections and community. DASA serves all students at NC State through three integrated components: academic affairs, student affairs, and University College.

The Juntos Program

Brings parents, youth, and communities together to help youth succeed in high school and pursue higher education. It is delivered through five main components:

  • Family Engagement
  • Success Coaching or Mentoring
  • Summer Programming or the Juntos Summer Academy

This summer, the Juntos Summer Academy will be held in-person at North Carolina State University.

We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic, passionate, and motivated college students with exemplary character and leadership skills who want to make a positive impact on the lives of rising 9th–12th grade Juntos youth.

Primary Purpose of Position
  • Counselor Position for our overnight, week-long summer program from Sunday, June 21st – Saturday, June 27th
  • Stay at North Carolina State University dormitory, 24/7, includes meals
  • Co‑lead and provide guidance to a group of 10‑15 rising 9th‑12th grade students
  • Be available to attend Introductory Zoom meeting in May
  • Follow NCSU housing and campus visitor’s policies and procedures
  • Completely abstain from illegal drugs, alcoholic beverages, or any inappropriate behavior that could lead to disciplinary/legal actions or immediate termination
  • Assist in early morning & late night room checks
  • Participate and encourage youth to actively engage in workshops, activities, and projects
  • Encourage youth to have a positive attitude
  • Follow the Team Captain Guide (provided on the day of orientation)
  • Communicate effectively with program directors, academy leaders, fellow team captains, youth, and volunteers
  • Report any inappropriate behavior observed during the Academy to leaders and/or program directors immediately
  • Be willing to share your personal experience in achieving high school graduation and pursuing higher education
  • Register on 4‑H Online as a volunteer
  • OPTIONAL:
    Some driving may be requested (minivan or 15‑passenger van)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Other Work/Responsibilities

  • At least 19 years of age by 6/20/2025
  • Completed at least one year of schooling in a higher education institution

Required License or Certification

  • Must pass background check regarding working with minors
  • Must have Social Security number in order to be paid
  • NC Driver’s License required if interested in driving

Recruitment

Anticipated Hiring Range: $1000 for one week plus housing and meals.
