This position will work in collaboration with our NC 4-H Camping Team to develop and administer an enhanced version of our Leader In Training Program for youth ages 15 to 17 (
(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)./) This grant based position will work to build on our existing program structure by successfully reviewing, analyzing, developing, and delivering program curriculum designed to promote participation in youth age 15-17 across the state of North Carolina.
- Direct oversight of the LIT Program
- Review of our current LIT Program at all three camp locations, to include staff interviews, site tour and review of current program details
- Analyze current program shortfalls, to include operational differences across our camping system, participants served, challenges, etc.
- Creation of marketing strategies and materials for program introduction, recruitment, growth and expansion
- Collaboration with site specific Center Directors and Program Directors to understand program challenges and create strategies to mitigate those challenges
- Year round program engagement through the creation of remote and on site program activities, events and trainings – 2 offseason in person events, and curriculum plan for onsite delivery during summer camp season
- Creation of an LIT Program manual to include specific policies, responsibilities and expectations for all tier levels of the program
- Engagement with statewide 4-H agents, Program Directors and Volunteers to introduce, market and recruit LIT participation
- Development and implementation of program curriculum, including an annual review process focused on improvement, mitigation of challenges, and leverage of opportunities
- Develop and implement an annual evaluation plan to capture lessons learned, benchmarks, and track progress of participants and impacts of program
- Other duties as assigned
This position will work a traditional 40 hour week in the off season and transition to summer program hours while camp is in session beginning early June to mid August annually.
Duty StationHybrid, with the capacity to travel to Raleigh/NCSU as required. Will live and work on site at Millstone 4-H Camp during summer of 2026 from May through August with travel to Eastern 4-H Center and Betsy Jeff Penn as needed.
Possibility of appointment lasting up to 3 years.

- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the areas of Education, Recreation or Counseling, other similar field, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.

- Ability to work with youth, particularly teens
- Enjoy working with youth in an outdoor environment
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions including high temperatures and inclement weather situations
- Ability to communicate effectively with camp staff, parents/guardians, and campers
