NC State University’s Center for Marine Sciences and Technology in Morehead City, NC, enthusiastically supports undergraduate research – providing students with opportunities to design projects and gain rewarding research experiences. In consultation with a faculty advisor that matches their interests, each student will:
The ten‑week summer research program will begin May 26, 2026 and end August 4, 2026. Undergraduate students are selected based on expressed interest, coursework and two reference checks.
This posting will be open until February 24, 2026. Applicants will be notified of our decision by early March. If selected, you will have only five days to accept or decline the offer, so the spot can be extended to others if you decline.

Other Work/ResponsibilitiesThis is a ten week program from your start date. Each student must participate in the full 10‑week summer program without other employment commitments.
Housing is not provided.
Department Required SkillsProspective students are expected to submit a written summary of their research, and give a 15‑minute oral presentation during the last week of the program before their faculty mentors and invited guests.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, EducationEligible students must be currently enrolled (or matriculated) as a full‑time undergraduate student. Students who have completed their requirements for graduation or who will graduate by May 2026 are not eligible to apply except those moving from a community college to university (or 4‑year college) setting.
Required License or CertificationValid Driver’s License is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
Anticipated Hiring Range$20.00 per hour
