The Extended Day Assistant Teacher supports the implementation of planned activities and provides attentive supervision to ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for Kindergarten students. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, values collaboration, and is committed to fostering meaningful relationships within a diverse and inclusive school community.

Reports to: Extended Day Director and Co-Director
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
What You'll Do
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate activities within the Extended Day program structure
- Provide attentive supervision of Kindergarten students during play, structured activities and transitions
- Maintain a safe and nurturing environment by proactively monitoring student behavior and addressing safety concerns
- Communicate observations regarding students well-being or support needs to the Lead Teacher and Extended Day Director
- Contribute to general planning and preparation for program activities
- Assist in coordinating activities and field trips as needed
- Maintain a clear, organized and welcoming classroom environment
- Monitor facilities for safety issues and report concerns promptly
- Collaborate effectively with Extended Day staff and other school personnel
- Provide flexibility to support Early Release Days, Teacher Workdays, and additional program needs as required
Qualifications
Required
- Experience working with young children and demonstrated enthusiasm for doing so
- Strong communication skills and tact when interacting with parents, colleagues, and students
- Dependable with a strong work ethic and collaborative mindset
- Ability to work the scheduled hours of 2:30 p.m.
- 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday - Flexibility to support additional program hours as needed
- Background and/or degree in Education or related field
This role is based on Ravenscroft's campus and requires active supervision of students in classroom and outdoor settings. The position involves frequent standing, walking, bending, and engaging with children during activities and play. Regular movement throughout campus spaces is required. Occasional lifting of classroom materials and equipment may be necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
