The Raleigh Summer Youth Employment Program (RSYEP) is seeking Youth Employment Career
Coaches to support teens ages 15–18 as they develop professional skills, life skills, and workforce readiness. Career Coaches play a key role in guiding youth through their employment experience by providing coaching, facilitation, and consistent support. This role is ideal for individuals who are committed to impactful programming focused on youth development and workforce readiness.
This is a part‑time position primarily supporting the Raleigh Summer Youth Employment Program
, which operates from May through mid‑August
, as well as post‑program activities
. Availability will vary throughout the year, with increased engagement during the summer program season and occasional evenings and weekends required based on program needs and events.

Youth Employment Career Coaches support youth before, during, and after their summer employment experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitate job readiness, career exploration, and professional development workshops for youth
- Coach youth on workplace skills such as communication, professionalism, time management, and accountability
- Support youth through onboarding, worksite placement, and program participation
- Monitor youth attendance, engagement, and progress
- Serve as a liaison between youth, families, worksite supervisors, and program staff
- Assist with interviews, orientations, evaluations, and program‑wide events
- Support youth mental wellness and provide referrals to appropriate resources when needed
- Complete required documentation, evaluations, and reports in a timely manner
- Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and program events
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Education or related field and one year of experience in social service program or related experience.

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing andCertifications:
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Must have access to personal transportation, but mileage will be paid.
- Background in youth workforce development, education, counseling, social services, or related field
- Experience facilitating workshops or group training
- Familiarity with career readiness, employability skills, or mentoring programs
- Experience working with high school youth
- Availability during the RSYEP summer program season (June–August)
- Willingness to participate in program‑wide events, including preparation, setup, and breakdown, unless prior approval is granted
- Flexibility to support evening and weekend programming, particularly during key program and post program periods
This position is part‑time and subject to City of Raleigh employment policies, including evaluations and performance expectations.
