Robotics and Automation Faculty Position (Assistant/Associate/Professor) in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at North Carolina State University. The role is part of a nationally recognized program and requires a balanced portfolio of research, teaching, and service.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a nationally recognized, externally funded research program in robotics and automation, with focus areas including autonomous systems, soft and bio‑inspired robotics, wearable and assistive robotics, human–robot interaction, robotic manipulation, mechatronics, manufacturing robotics and AI machine learning applications.
- Deliver high‑quality instruction in mechanical and/or aerospace engineering courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, engage students through innovative teaching methods, and contribute to curriculum development.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities, including committee work, student advising, outreach, and collaboration.
- Provide mentorship to junior faculty and graduate students; demonstrate leadership within the department and contribute to strategic growth (for Associate or Full Professor candidates).
- Foster interdisciplinary collaborations within NC State and with external partners in the Research Triangle, UNC‑Chapel Hill, Duke University, and other institutions.
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, completed before the start date.
- Demonstrated excellence and potential in research, teaching, and service.
- Track record of scholarship, creative vision for research, active interest in engineering education, and strong communication skills.
- For Associate or Full Professor:
Emphasis on the strength and caliber of the existing research program and ability to provide mentorship and leadership.
