B. Hunt Jr. Library on NC State's Centennial Campus offers access to advanced technologies enabling revolutionary ways to see and use information. The
D. H. Hill Jr. Library serves the main campus, housing special collections and a beautiful gallery alongside vibrant, experiential spaces for making, digital media creation, data analysis and visualization, and collaboration. Three branch libraries focus on design, natural resources, and veterinary medicine. Acquisitions & Discovery’s 6 librarians and 15 staff manage the Libraries' approximately $12 million collections budget, acquiring materials in all formats, negotiating license agreements and contracts, and maintaining access points for discovery of the Libraries' resources.
They have been actively involved in developing the e‑resource management system E‑Matrix and contribute to the Libraries’ internationally recognized innovations in content management and discovery.
The Electronic Resources Librarian negotiates licensing for and acquires library materials in all formats, focusing on e‑journals and databases. They lead the Libraries’ license team, provide leadership on licensing practices while liaising with vendors, consortia, and Collections and Research Engagement librarians.
The position develops and documents workflows, processes, and best practices to support e‑resource life cycles within a system‑driven environment, and manages discovery and administrative metadata for e‑resources, including creating, loading, updating, maintaining, and withdrawing records. They maintain close working relationships with content providers, vendors, and consortial partners in support of e‑resource acquisitions and access, and are responsible for triaging and troubleshooting serials e‑resource access problems.
As part of the department’s management team, they participate in establishing and defining projects, priorities, and goals, manage e‑resource projects including developing workflows and training staff, contribute to departmental projects and teams, and collaborate with colleagues across the Libraries to support acquisition, licensing, discovery, and use of e‑resources. They consider how their work reflects the Libraries’ Strategic Plan, creating an environment welcoming for patrons and colleagues.
They participate in library planning and serve on library‑wide committees, task forces, and teams. The role reports to the Associate Head of Acquisitions & Discovery, Serials.

Qualifications- ALA‑accredited MLS, MIS, or equivalent advanced degree.
- Knowledge of trends and practices in electronic resource management.
- Understanding of current and emerging models, practices, and tools related to library acquisitions, licensing, and metadata management.
- Familiarity with library management systems supporting acquisitions and discovery functions such as integrated library systems (ILS), knowledge bases, electronic resource management systems (ERMS), issue tracking systems, or discovery interfaces.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
