Primary FunctionNorth Carolina Cooperative Extension provides access to resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. The individual will provide leadership for the total 4-H youth program and will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating programs for youth ages 5–19, program staff, and volunteers.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and evaluate 4-H programs for youth ages 5–19 through clubs, school enrichment, summer programs, and after-school programs.
- Recruit, evaluate, train, and coordinate adult and teen volunteers.
- Supervise the overall 4-H program, establish and maintain clubs within Richmond County, and manage special programs such as Empowering Youth and Families (EYFP).
- Secure sponsor ships, grants, and other funding sources to support activities and programs.
- Ensure program accessibility to youth across the county and maintain grant-funded programs.
Volunteer recruitment and development experience and program development skills are important.
Experience in grant writing and management is preferred.
QualificationsOne of the following educational requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 overall or a 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale) in child or youth development or a related field (minimum GPA waived for NCCE Program Associates with a Bachelor’s degree).
- A Bachelor’s degree and completion of at least one half of a Master’s degree curriculum with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Completion of a Master’s degree with at least one degree in child or youth development or a related field.
Experience working with various audiences and demonstrated leadership, communication, grantsmanship, public relations, planning, implementation, and evaluation skills. Self-directed with a strong work ethic.
Preferred:
Knowledge of developmental needs of children ages 5–19.
Valid Driver’s License and reliable personal transportation required. North Carolina driver’s license must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
Work ScheduleMonday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with evenings and weekends as required. Total 40 Hours Per Week.
Salary RangeMinimum Bachelor's: $40,000;
Minimum Master's: $45,000;
Minimum Doctorate: $50,000, commensurate with experience.
