Temporary STEM Instructor

Position Overview

The Science House (TSH) is the College of Sciences statewide K-12 STEM outreach unit. Established in 1991, TSH is a national model of university collaboration between university departments, businesses, and the K-12 community. TSH’s mission is to collaboratively maintain and develop K-12 teacher and student programs that inspire a passion for STEM learning, research, and discovery. TSH achieves this through four strategic priorities: teacher professional development, student programs, rural satellite offices, and broader impact support.

As a Temporary STEM Instructor 2026, you will plan, prepare, and deliver STEM instructional curricula for Imhotep and Kyran Anderson camps and academies, fostering a supportive and welcoming learning environment.

• Plan, prepare, and deliver STEM‑oriented instruction using project‑based learning methods for adolescent students.
• Attend teaching‑planning sessions and training related to the STEM program.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques, media and performance assessments to guide student learning and interest in STEM.
• Use technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
• Collaborate with program director and staff to organize, develop, coordinate and evaluate STEM activities.

• BS or BA Degree with an emphasis in mathematics, science, technology, engineering or education.
• At least 1 year of related work experience.
• Preferred: current NC teaching certificate in science, technology, engineering or mathematics, or a Master’s degree in a STEM field.

5-10 hours per week, varying by week;
Saturdays 8 am–1 pm for summer or track‑out camps;
Monday–Friday 8 am–5 pm during other program periods.

$25 per hour – $30 per hour (temporary).
