Role Overview
The Senior Education Coordinator is a temporary position serving the Gregg Museum of Art & Design’s Learning, Engagement, and Partnerships initiatives. The role enhances the museum’s dynamic, hands‑on learning environment for NC State students, faculty, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and implement seasonal large‑scale public programs in collaboration with the Museum Director.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary artists, scholars, and presenters for museum programming.
- Support community‑engaged artist residencies and cross‑campus initiatives.
- Build partnerships with NC State faculty, departments, and colleges to integrate exhibitions and collections into curricula.
- Co‑create interdisciplinary learning initiatives and support development of a Museum Studies Certificate.
- Strengthen relationships with K‑12 educators, community groups, and campus units to increase museum engagement.
- Oversee development of in‑gallery learning materials, hands‑on activities, and ADA‑accessible guides.
- Ensure consistent, high‑quality virtual and in‑person tours for varied audiences.
- Conduct research on the permanent collection to inform interpretation, lesson plans, and digital content; assess group visit experiences and recommend improvements.
- Create and oversee digital assets including photography, video, social media content, and virtual tours.
- Produce and edit videos for the museum’s You Tube channel and collaborate with contractors or campus partners.
- Support marketing and audience outreach efforts with the Engagement Initiatives and Arts NC State.
- Manage logistics, scheduling, contracts, payments, materials, documentation, evaluation, and project records for museum programs.
- Provide guidance and support to staff, interns, ambassadors, and volunteers involved in program delivery and research.
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Communications, History, or a related field, or equivalent education/experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in public programming, arts/cultural events, museum education, or classroom teaching.
- Clear and considerate communication skills, including public speaking and moderating conversations, strong writing ability.
- Ability to facilitate development of learning activities and research related to contemporary art, design, history, and culturally rooted community narratives.
- High‑level project coordination experience, organizing public events and projects from concept to completion.
- Precise data entry, documentation, and audience evaluation practices.
- Proficiency with digital tools (Google Drive, online forms, project management apps), video editing, and social media.
- Keen visual acuity and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow museum guidelines, procedures, and collaborative workflows.
- Valid NC Driver’s License required.
- 3+ years of museum education, public programs, or community engagement experience.
- Experience supporting exhibition development, including planning, administrative support, research, and writing.
- Interest in strengthening leadership skills in community‑driven museum practices and interdisciplinary arts engagement.
- Temporary position; required to take one‑month unpaid leave annually after 11 months of employment.
