Lecturer – Teacher Education and Learning Sciences (TELS) Program
We are seeking a Lecturer to support the TELS program’s mission of preparing highly effective educators who lead innovation in teaching and learning. This role focuses on delivering engaging instruction and hands‑on experiences that integrate digital technologies, design thinking, and teaching principles into K–12 education. The Lecturer will collaborate with colleagues to advance research‑informed practices, support student development, and contribute to the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge in the field.
CoreResponsibilities & Duties
- Teach 1–3 courses per semester in areas such as elementary education, middle grades education, learning sciences, subject‑matter methods (e.g., math, science), or other TELS‑defined specialties.
- Foster best practices and integrate research‑based instructional strategies and digital technologies.
- Design, revise, and implement course content; coordinate syllabi with program objectives.
- Ensure alignment with NC standards (e.g., NC Standard Course of Study, NGSS) and collaborate with program coordinators to maintain curricular coherence.
- Support and advise students, including preservice teachers, in both academic and field‑based experiences such as clinical placements.
- Provide mentorship for undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral students, as applicable.
- Develop fair and rigorous assessments, grade assignments and exams.
- Gather and reflect on student feedback, peer reviews, and teaching evaluations to continuously improve instruction.

Minimum Education and Experience- Requires master’s degree, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education or a closely related field from an accredited institution or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
- Demonstrated experience teaching at the K‑12 or postsecondary level.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated experience teaching in K‑12 settings, particularly in technology, engineering, design, or STEM subjects.
- Familiarity with integrating digital tools and emerging technologies into classroom instruction.
- Experience designing and delivering hands‑on, project‑based, or experiential learning activities.
- Evidence of collaboration with schools, districts, or educational organizations to enhance teacher preparation or professional development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team‑based, interdisciplinary academic environment.
- Interest in contributing to curriculum development, program improvement, or applied educational research.
Valid NC Driver’s License required.
