Position SummaryThe Part‑time Library Assistant delivers a high level of quality library services ensuring the provision of value‑added experiences for all customers and performs routine tasks in support of the library. EssentialFunctions
- Promote the library’s collection and services
- Perform circulation activities
- Provide service desk coverage
- Provide materials to appropriate bins for transfer
- Provide research assistance to customers
- Utilize integrated library systems software
- Assist customers at several service points
- Train and assist customers on various library policies, procedures, and processes
- Collaborate with librarians to deliver programming and outreach services
- Assist with volunteer management
- Perform shelving and weeding duties
- Experience:
Minimum of one year of customer service experience, including library or retail. - Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted:
Yes.
- Knowledge of integrated library systems software.
- Face‑to‑face customer service experience.
- Spanish speaking – bilingual.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of alpha‑numeric sorting systems, various library systems, and telephone etiquette.
- Technology adeptness.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent time management skills with attention to detail.

Setting high standards of performance for self; assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; self‑imposing standards of excellence.
Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
Work EnvironmentWorks in an office setting with moderate noise.
