Extension Program Assistant​/Associate-Agriculture

Position Overview

NC State Extension extends research-based knowledge to all North Carolinians, helping them transform science into everyday solutions that improve their lives and grow our state. In this role you will provide education and support to local communities, including horticulture and agriculture programming.

• Assist Horticulture and Agriculture Agents with programming.
• Conduct school enrichment programs and provide technical support to manage public garden facilities.
• Facilitate the Master Gardener Volunteer program.
• Serve the citizens of Onslow County in the event of a disaster, taking on additional duties as necessary.

• High school diploma or equivalent; two years of specialized training in environmental education, horticulture, or agriculture desirable.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license. Must not have more than three points over a 3‑year period and no DWI convictions.
• Ability to meet physical demands of the job.
• Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs; good organizational and people skills.
• Experience with pond management, irrigation management, or agriculture equipment is a plus.

$32,562 commensurate with experience.
