Assistant/Associate Professor in Community Sport Development

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management (PRTM) in the College of Natural Resources at North Carolina State University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in community sport development. We are seeking an innovative scholar and educator whose research explores the role of sport in strengthening communities through sustainable development, cultural engagement, health and well-being, youth development, economic impact, or related areas.

In this role, you will shape the future of community sport development through impactful research, meaningful teaching, and collaboration with students, colleagues, and community partners. You'll have the opportunity to develop or expand a nationally recognized research program, mentor the next generation of sport leaders, and translate scholarship into practice through partnerships that improve communities across North Carolina and beyond.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop Research by or expanding a high-impact scholarly research program that attracts external funding and contributes to the field of community sport development.
• Teach and Mentor undergraduate and graduate students through engaging instruction, student mentorship, and supervision of research and scholarly activities.
• Publish and Disseminate research through peer-reviewed publications, professional presentations, and other scholarly activities that advance knowledge and practice.
• Collaborate with faculty, community organizations, industry partners, and government agencies to foster interdisciplinary research and strengthen community engagement.
• Shape Academic Programs by contributing to curriculum development, continuous program improvement, and innovative learning opportunities across the department.
• Serve the University and Profession through departmental, college, and university committees, professional organizations, and public service activities that support NC State's land-grant mission.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Earned doctoral degree in recreation, sport management, tourism, community development, or a closely related field by the position start date.

Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated record of scholarship appropriate for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. Evidence of effective teaching and student mentorship at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. Demonstrated ability to communicate scholarly work through publications, presentations, or other professional dissemination. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
