Assistant Professor of Linguistics – Tenure Track

The Department of English at North Carolina State University invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track position in Linguistics. Faculty members contribute to the undergraduate major and M.A. concentration through teaching, research, and service.

Essential Duties
  • Provide undergraduate and graduate instruction in foundational and specialty courses in Linguistics.
  • Conduct research, publish findings, and communicate results. The area of specialization is open; we particularly seek candidates with expertise in either corpus linguistics (focused on syntax, morphology, or the lexicon) or experimental sociolinguistics and/or experimental psycholinguistics.
  • Engage in service to the department, college, and university.
  • Qualifications
    • PhD in Linguistics by August 2027.
    • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a strong record of research and scholarly publication.
    • Commitment to high‑quality undergraduate and graduate instruction and experience conducting data‑informed research.
    • PhDs in related disciplines are encouraged if the candidate can teach foundational courses.
    • Experience or commitment to community outreach and engagement.
