Instructor - DSP Peer Mentor Job Summary The Instructor - DSP Peer Mentor is responsible for directing and facilitating instructional activities—including virtual/telehealth learning and program module activities—for staff and participants within the WE WITHOUT WALLS and WE Create programs. This role focuses on teaching independent life learning skills, implementing participant engagement techniques, and developing practical learning aids. Additionally, the Instructor works directly alongside staff to ensure they have the training, tools, and resources necessary to actively educate and empower participants to achieve their personal goals each day.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Facilitation & Skill Building: Direct and lead instructional sessions (in-person and via telehealth) focused on independent life skills, social interaction, and goal achievement for program participants.
- Staff Mentorship &
Coaching:
Partner directly with Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and staff to provide peer coaching, guidance, and instructional resources to foster active participant engagement. - Curriculum & Learning Aids: Utilize and implement learning materials, tools, and engagement strategies tailored to the WE WITHOUT WALLS and WE Create program frameworks.
- Compliance & Documentation: Complete all required clinical, administrative, and funder-mandated paperwork accurately and within designated time frames.
- Operational Support: Assist Service Coordinators and program management with daily program operations, participant progress monitoring, and routine learning activities.
- Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required; prior experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), Peer Mentor, or Instructor in Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) / Behavioral Health (BH) settings strongly preferred.
- Internal Candidate Preference: Internal staff members with demonstrated familiarity with daily program operations, expectations, and participant needs are strongly encouraged to apply.

Competencies:- Strong instructional, active listening, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in facilitating virtual/telehealth activities and utilizing digital learning tools.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor peers, model best practices, and build positive, supportive relationships.
- High attention to detail for timely and accurate documentation.
