The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of New Hampshire invites applications for qualified individuals to join our adjunct faculty pool to teach French language courses at the undergraduate level, for Fall 2026.

Teach elementary courses in French based on instructor's qualifications. Adjunct instructor positions are part-time without benefits. Teaching assignments will vary from semester to semester and are based on enrollment. Therefore, there may be semesters where no assignments are available.

Essential Functions:
  • Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments and papers.
  • Prepare and deliver instructional materials (i.e. syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts) in person and/or on-line.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
  • Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
  • Participate in required reporting processes (i.e. grades, participation, etc.).
  • Assist students in connecting to college resources.
Responsibilities:
  • Teach assigned French courses at various levels.
  • Develop and implement engaging lessons and materials.
  • Assess student performance and provide feedback.
  • Maintain office hours, records, and potentially participate in limited departmental activities.

Salary:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience, potentially around $5,000 per course.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • College degree or higher in French or a related field with sufficient graduate credits in French; MA in French preferred.
  • Native or near-native fluency in French and English.
  • College-level teaching experience is highly valued, but not required.
  • Understanding of language acquisition theories and teaching methodologies.
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to an inclusive learning environment.
