Job Duties
The Assistant Professor of Population Medicine and Career Success specializes in Large Animal Population Medicine and Veterinary Education Scholarship. This dynamic role is designed for an innovative educator and researcher ready to shape the future of veterinary medicine by blending cutting-edge clinical instruction with ground-breaking educational research. This position plays a central role in delivering our core DVM curriculum while building a nationally recognized research program that drives innovation in farm animal health, AI integration, immersive learning, and student well-being.
TeachingBased on specific focus, this faculty member will contribute to population medicine and career readiness teaching in existing core, elective and selective courses. The faculty member will also have the option to participate in teaching and/or proposing new selective, elective or special topics courses. Interested individuals may contribute to ongoing development of house officer and graduate student competency‑based training programs and trainee assessments.
ResearchThis position is expected to establish an impactful, nationally recognized research program at the intersection of Large Animal Population Medicine and Veterinary Education Scholarship. This dual‑focus program will address critical gaps in population health education by actively developing, implementing, and evaluating novel teaching methods. This position will focus on discovery that interrogates, innovates and transforms farm animal population health and career readiness training in veterinary education.
The research will address gaps in knowledge and pivotal questions including, but not limited to, the following examples:
Investigating the design, implementation, and educational efficacy of immersive virtual environments - such as "digital twin" models of production facilities, processing plants, or pasture ecosystems. This research will leverage VR to simulate complex, high‑stakes…
