Associate Provost Academic Affairs

Reporting to the Provost, the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs provides strategic and operational leadership for faculty affairs, academic planning, instructional delivery, and academic integrity. The Associate Provost partners with the Provost, the Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Compliance, the Executive Director of Online Programs, Department Chairs, and other academic leaders to advance academic quality, faculty effectiveness, student success, and institutional priorities.

The Associate Provost leads faculty recruitment and annual evaluation;
Department Chair development; faculty workload, instructional staffing, and course scheduling; academic integrity; and designated student complaint resolution. The position provides strategic leadership, direction, and accountability for Faculty Development and Immersive Learning and Library Services.

The Associate Provost works closely with the Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Compliance to align faculty and instructional work with institutional assessment, accreditation, academic policy, compliance, student success, and institutional planning. • Provide strategic leadership for faculty affairs, academic planning, instructional delivery, and academic integrity in alignment with the University’s mission, strategic priorities, and student-success goals.
• Establish priorities and advise the Provost on faculty affairs, academic operations, instructional delivery, academic quality, emerging needs, and improvement opportunities.
• Partner with the Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Compliance and other academic and administrative leaders to align academic initiatives with institutional priorities, student-success goals, and applicable requirements.
• Represent the Provost’s Office in institutional discussions, committees, and decision-making related to the assigned portfolio. Serve as the Provost’s designee for assigned academic and operational matters and provide continuity of leadership during the Provost’s absence.

• Lead and coordinate faculty recruitment processes, including position planning, search committees, candidate evaluation, and recommendations for hiring, in collaboration with the Provost, Human Resources, and relevant academic leaders.
• Lead the annual faculty evaluation process for all faculty ranks, ensuring clear expectations, consistent practices, timely completion, appropriate documentation, and constructive feedback. The Provost retains responsibility for faculty promotion and advancement evaluations.
• Provide leadership, consultation, and professional development for Department Chairs to strengthen effective departmental leadership and support the consistent implementation of University policies and academic priorities.
• Lead or co-lead Academic Council meetings, as assigned, and develop agendas that facilitate informed discussion, coordinated decision-making, and progress on institutional and Academic Affairs strategic priorities.
• In collaboration with the Provost and the Director of Faculty Development and Immersive Learning, plan and lead faculty opening sessions each semester.
