Organizes, plans, and delivers services to students and families in the WCPSS Indian Education program. Attends monthly parent committee meetings and collaborates with members to ensure compliance with grant objectives. Identifies and supports Native American students in the school system, providing them with support for attendance, social emotional, and academics while encouraging their participation in cultural, educational, and leadership activities in the community.

Ensures the program is compliant with WCPSS, state, and federal standards, procedures, and policies. Serves as advocate for American Indian students and as liaison between WCPSS and the larger American Indian community.

• Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point;

• Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records;
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
• Ability to handle and comply with confidentiality policies, security requirements, and testing protocols in a school setting;
• Ability to motivate and inspire students;
• Ability to monitor the safety and well-being of students;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, parents, and the community.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; AND
• Three years of experience of program coordination and delivery of professional development.

An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully meet the essential duties may be considered.

• Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.

• Organizes, plans, delivers, and documents services to students and parents as outlined by the Title VI Indian Education program grant.
• Partners with outside service providers to ensure alignment with WCPSS policies and procedures.
• Works closely with principals, teachers, and families to provide services to students; conducts workshops for families and students; works closely with the Indian Education Parent Committee and attends their meetings.
• Works to meet the goals and objectives of Indian Education stated in grants; strives to reduce dropout rate, increase enrollment and attendance, and increase the graduation rate of Native American students; tracks student data.
• Assists with grant writing and completion of required Indian Education grant documentation.
• Conducts home and school visits; assists with finding tutors for students who need them; works with high school seniors in planning their transition to further education, a career, etc.; plans a Career Day and Student Recognition Day for Native American students.
• Develops and maintains records of activities, student contacts, etc.; prepares various reports and shares them with the Parent Committee.
• Coaches teachers in developing a culturally responsive approach to providing instruction and support to all students.
• Makes regular classroom visits to evaluate culturally responsive instructional pedagogy and equitable classroom management with all teachers and staff.
• Works with individuals teachers to address specific instructional challenges and to support the development of teacher-student relationships.
• Engages in collegial coaching with school administrators and staff to help identify and implement successful equity focused practices leading to closing achievement gaps.
