Your role will be essential in connecting adults of all ages and children ages 0-5 with the library's resources, fostering relationships and building community.
Key Responsibilities of a Community Librarian:
Create Engaging Programs and Help BuildSkills:
- Unleash your creativity by designing and implementing dynamic programs for adults and young children
- Create these experiences to spark curiosity and joy
- Take pride in meeting one‑on‑one with adults to assist them in building skills in job searching, doing research, applying for college and more
- Take charge in the absence of the library managers to ensure the smooth operations of the library
- Be a support and resource for your colleagues
- Join forces with a dedicated team to brainstorm, plan and execute programs, projects and maintain collections
- Contribute your unique strengths while fostering an environment of support, innovation and shared success
- Work with managers and peers to establish and nurture strong relationships with the community
- Promote library services and forge relationships that enhance our programs and services
- Work directly with the public providing excellent customer service, reference and readers advisory services

Monday 8:00 - 5:00
Tuesday 8:00 – 5:00
Wednesday 8:00 – 5:00
Thursday 12:00 – 9:00
Friday 8:00 – 5:00
Every third weekend Saturday 8:00 – 5:00 and Sunday 12:00 – 5:00

The person selected for this position must undergo a successful criminal background check and education verification, as well as submit fingerprints to the State Bureau of Investigation for a secondary criminal history record check.

Education and Experience )
- Master's degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program
- No specific experience required
- Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted
- Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume.
