About the Department

North Carolina State University is a research-focused (R1) institution located in the Research Triangle Area, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Housed in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School of Social Work offers undergraduate and graduate education to over 300 students.

The BSW generalist social work curriculum prepares students for entry-level social work practice, leadership, and the delivery and evaluation of health and human services, as well as future graduate study. The MSW curriculum prepares students for advanced generalist practice, including leadership in planning, developing, managing, and evaluating culturally relevant services for individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. NC State is committed to excellence in research, scholarship, teaching, and community extension and engagement.

The School of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education ( CSWE ). CSWE’s Commission on Accreditation is the sole body authorized to accredit BSW and MSW programs in the United States.

The School of Social Work invites applications for an open-rank professional-track position. Hires for this position may be part-time or full-time. Professional-track faculty members are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and advising. Faculty members at .75 FTE or above may be expected to participate actively in community extension, engagement, and service to the school, college, university, and profession.

We seek candidates with teaching experience in social work theory, practice, research, and policy. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the School’s Bachelor of Social Work ( BSW ) program and/or Master of Social Work ( MSW ) program. The typical teaching load is 4 courses per semester for a full-time (1.0 FTE ) faculty member.

Other Responsibilities

Other duties as assigned by the Head of the School of Social Work.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • A Master’s degree in social work and at least 2 years of post-master’s-degree social work practice experience is required for the rank of Lecturer
