The Gathering is a worshiping community within the communion of Edenton Street United Methodist Church, sharing a common vision, values, and habits of discipleship. Our community is grounded in the rhythms of Christian liturgy, discipleship, and mission, and lives with curiosity and wonder for how God is calling us to improvise in the Spirit that we might live in Christ for the flourishing of our neighbors.

The Director of The Gathering helps our ministries accomplish our church's mission to worship God, love one another, and serve the world with others of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life for the purpose of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
The main responsibility is to help direct the life of The Gathering as a vibrant worshiping community, leading through musical direction, discipleship, and creative collaboration with the laity, staff, and clergy of ESUMC.
Description and Responsibilities
:
The Director of The Gathering reports directly to the Lead Pastor and will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Directing the life of The Gathering as a worshiping community grounded in Christian liturgy, discipleship, and mission
- Leading worship through musical direction, vocal leadership, and creative planning in partnership with pastors and staff
- Recruiting, training, and guiding the band and worship volunteers
- Collaborating with the pastoral team, the music and liturgy team, and the Gathering worship committee to implement a shared vision
- Actively participating in the broader life of the ESUMC community, including ministries, retreats, church events, including music support with youth, college and young adults.
- Partnering with youth, college, and young adult ministries in worship, music, and other collaborative initiatives.
