We’re expanding our Transmission & Distribution (T&D) operations in North America and are looking for a Substation P&C Engineer in our Energy & Power Group to tackle the complexities of decarbonization and utility modernization to deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future.

As a Substation P&C Engineer you will work closely with our regional and global T&D delivery teams to support utility/developer clients and operations teams in expanding our energy transition portfolio. You will directly interface with clients on Substation Physical and P&C methodologies, develop design deliverables for utility upgrades (greenfield/brownfield & AIS/GIS substations, offshore wind facilities, developer interconnection facilities), and support program management during major network overhauls.

You will provide engineering overview and expertise while acting as an independent technical advisor representing owner interests. You will mentor team members across North America and globally, and participate in the sales and proposal process for new contracts.

Involvement with professional societies (IEEE, PES, etc.) and participation in industry conferences, seminars, trade shows, and networking events is a plus.

Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or related discipline (Master’s degree counts as 1 year of professional experience)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States and ability to obtain additional PE licenses if needed
  • Minimum 8 years of direct Substation Protection & Controls design experience with a utility or consulting organization
  • Advanced knowledge of protection philosophies and relaying functions (line protection, transformer protection, breaker failure, cap bank protection, communication‑based schemes, differential protection, etc.) for high‑voltage substations
  • Experience designing substation protection and control drawings (panel arrangements/layouts, one‑line/single line, three‑line, AC/DC schematics, equipment wiring, relay panel wiring)
  • Ability to perform SCADA communication design for substation projects
  • Ability to perform substation AC/DC service calculations and studies, voltage drop calculations, control/fiber cable sizing and selection
  • Experience reviewing vendor specifications for control houses and switch gear buildings
  • Demonstrated QA/QC of design calculations, construction drawings, and specifications
  • Familiarity with Relay Settings acSELerator Quick Set Software
  • Familiarity and experience with CADD platforms such as Autodesk or Bentley products
  • Project scoping, preparation of task orders, review of work by others, and owner compliance verification
  • Field visit and walk‑down support for client projects, including construction engineering support
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
