Description:
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer III to join a high-performing team providing enterprise LAN and wireless support. This role requires travel to sites across the U.S. (~50%+) for network surveys, installations, and upgrades, with hybrid work in Raleigh, NC when not traveling. The ideal candidate will serve as a Tier 3 escalation point, design and implement LAN/Wireless infrastructure, optimize network performance, and mentor junior engineers.
This role demands independent problem-solving, strong technical expertise, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel nationwide for network surveys, installations, and upgrades
- Serve as Tier 3 escalation for complex LAN/Wireless issues
- Design, implement, and manage LAN/Wireless infrastructure projects
- Configure and support Cisco IOS Layer 2/3 switches, routers, and wireless systems
- Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, and Static routes
- Perform switch acceptance, vulnerability mitigation, and firewall/load balancer support
- Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot network performance
- Review site designs and provide guidance on multi-floor pathways and cable backbones
- Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and project status reports
- Mentor Tier 2 engineers and provide technical guidance
Required Skills/
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 8 years IT experience with at least 5 years in network engineering and support
- Strong expertise in enterprise LAN/Wireless architecture and design
- Experience with Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Juniper Mist, and Fortinet network solutions
- Proficient in LAN protocols, IOS configuration, and troubleshooting
- Experience with Wi-Fi site survey and planning tools (Ekahau preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced and dynamic environments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must have resided in the U.S. for the last 5 years and meet Public Trust clearance criteria
