General OverviewThis position requires experience in mechanical engineering to interpret specifications, design mechanical equipment and layouts, generate BOMs and support Project Engineers.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Design mechanical components, subsystems, and work cells using Solidworks/AutoCAD
- Develop and test prototypes using internal and external manufacturing resources
- Assist in generating detail drawings and Bills of Material (BOMs). Support onsite enhancements with the Project Manager
- During installation help review all site work to ensure accuracy. Assist in installation as needed in a mechanical engineering aspect
- Investigate equipment failures and inefficiencies in support of Lean and Quality initiatives
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Interact with project leads to help identify automation designs in either new or existing DCs
- Knowledge and competence in designing/supporting Pneumatic, Mechatronics, and Robot Cells
- Five (5) years of mechanical engineering – preferred experience in distribution center automation
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement, and Lean Processes
- Three (3) years of 2D/3D CAD experience (e.g. Auto Cad, Solidworks, Pro/Engineer)
- Three (3) years Leadership skills leading design teams or Project Management skills
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSMET) from an accredited college or university
- Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Projects. Autocad and/or Solidworks skills
- Thorough knowledge of blueprint reading and ability to interpret drawings
- Ability to problem solve mechanical engineering problems
- Ability to multi-task, with good organization, attention to detail and ability to prioritize
- Applies proven technology independently
- Self-starter capable of solving complex problems with little supervision
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels in the organization while remaining customer oriented
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
