Job Description
Insight Global is partnering with a leading energy and infrastructure organization to hire an experienced Project Manager – Substations. This role is responsible for leading the execution of complex substation projects across the U.S., serving as the primary customer contact and owning delivery from project handover through construction close‑out.
This opportunity is ideal for a project manager with strong substation experience who thrives in customer‑facing environments and is comfortable owning schedule, cost, risk, and financial performance.
Day-to-Day/Job Responsibilities- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and key stakeholders across multiple substation projects
- Lead projects from handover through construction completion, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met
- Manage all core project management functions, including:
- Project planning and scheduling
- Budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking
- Risk, change, and opportunity management
- Maintain full P&L accountability for assigned projects
- Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and reducing non‑conformance costs
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional and global teams to ensure successful project execution
- Build and apply technical knowledge across AIS, GIS, and substation systems

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in substation projects, preferably in a project management capacity
- Hands‑on experience with substation equipment such as:
- Air‑Insulated Switchgear (AIS)
- Transformers and breakers
- Medium‑ and High‑Voltage Gas‑Insulated Switchgear (GIS)
- Balance‑of‑Plant (BOP) equipment
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong customer‑facing communication and leadership skills
- Experience managing schedules, budgets, and project financials
- Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically (occasional international travel)
- Willingness to relocate to Raleigh, NC if not already local (relocation support available)
- PMP, IPMA, or other formal project management certification
- Prior experience with P&L ownership
- Experience working with global or cross‑functional teams
- Background in quality management or process improvement initiatives
- Deeper technical specialization in AIS, GIS, or specific substation product lines
