WRA is seeking a highly motivated intern to join our Transportation Water Resources team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in hydrologic and hydraulic design, stormwater management, and environmental compliance for transportation infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities:
* Assist in the design and analysis of stormwater management systems, drainage structures, and erosion and sediment control plans.
* Support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using software such as HEC-RAS, HY-8, and TR-55.
* Help prepare construction documents, technical reports, and permit applications.
* Conduct field investigations and assist with data collection and site assessments.
* Collaborate with engineers and environmental scientists on multidisciplinary transportation projects.
* Learn and apply local, state, and federal water resources regulations (e.g., VDOT, MDOT, PennDOT, NCDOT).
Requirements:
* Must be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
* Strong interest in water resources/hydraulics and transportation infrastructure.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
* Exposure to engineering software (e.g., Micro Station, AutoCAD, or GIS is a plus)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
