Réalis is seeking a Bridge Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) to join our Structures East Team. This is an entry‑level position based out of Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Execute drafting‑focused work, producing bridge plans and sheets to learn foundational bridge terminology, components, standards, and how a complete plan set is assembled.
- Support senior engineers with plan production, detailing, assembling specifications, and performing basic calculations to build hands‑on familiarity with bridge elements and construction requirements.
- Progress through increasingly advanced design responsibilities, starting with component‑level design, then moving into system‑level analysis, and eventually contributing to full bridge design as skills and professional proficiency grow.
- Prepare material for reports, including gathering information, writing rough outlines, and assisting with documentation and graphic presentations.
- Perform data acquisition and analysis, researching the feasibility of alternative design approaches, evaluating site conditions, and reviewing relevant regulatory agency specifications or requirements.
- Participate in projects involving construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with easily interpreted specifications; assist in record‑keeping and generate progress reports; observe relatively simple construction procedures; and collect samples for quality‑control testing.
- Perform field observations of construction where appropriate.
- Perform such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
- EXPERIENCE:
0‑2 Years of professional experience in a related technical field is preferred. - EDUCATION:
Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college/university or Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET‑accredited institution. Master’s Degree highly desirable. - SPECIAL
SKILLS:- Basic computer skills required to enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
- Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Micro Station (preferred).
- Proficient interpersonal and communication skills.
- Capability to develop technical writing and reports.
- PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS:
Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification is required. Offers will be made contingent upon obtaining EI/EIT certification from the licensing board (preferably NCBELS).
