Description
The opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy as we transform the future of sustainable mobility. We’re looking for a dynamic Field Service Specialist to support our Grid‑eMotion™ portfolio—innovative charging solutions designed for commercial fleets and large‑scale public transportation. This role places you at the heart of the clean‑energy transition, working directly on a high‑impact commercial EV bus charging depot project in the Washington, DC Metro area.

In this position, you’ll take on meaningful, hands‑on work with cutting‑edge power electronics and DC fast‑charging technologies. You’ll be supporting customers who are electrifying their operations, improving community transportation systems, and accelerating the shift toward zero‑emission mobility.

You’ll grow your expertise through a blend of classroom learning, on‑the‑job training, and real‑world field experience. As part of our North America Grid Integration Service team, you’ll collaborate with technical specialists across the region while building strong customer relationships and ensuring best‑in‑class installation, commissioning, and service support.

If you thrive in a fast‑evolving environment, enjoy solving complex technical challenges, and want to contribute to a cleaner energy future, this is an exciting opportunity to make a measurable impact.

How you’ll make an impact
  • Install and commission Grid‑eMotion charging systems at customer sites.
  • Deliver preventive, corrective, and emergency service support.
  • Provide customer training, product education, and service solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to meet project goals.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Support scheduling, planning, and resource coordination activities.
  • Contribute to other projects as part of the North America Field Service team.
  • Continuously develop technical competence through structured learning.
Your background
  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology.
  • 3–5 years of experience with DC chargers, inverters, rectifiers, EV charging, or power electronics.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, test plans, and related documentation.
  • Familiarity with electrical standards (ANSI, CSA, CEI).
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel across the U.S. and internationally.
    Preferred:
Electrician’s license; 5+ years in industrial electrification or substation projects; deep power electronics knowledge.
More about us
  • We empower your growth with continuous learning, hands‑on development, and global mobility opportunities.
  • You’ll join a collaborative team that’s driving real progress in the clean‑energy transition.
  • At Hitachi Energy, you’ll contribute to shaping a more sustainable, flexible, and secure energy future.
