The Senior Engineer for Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) advocates for inclusion of GSI in private and City projects. The position leads implementation of the City’s policy that requires GSI to be evaluated with every City project. The position also reviews plans for compliance with regulations on erosion and sediment control, post-construction stormwater management, riparian buffers, floodplain management, and special watershed districts.

About UsThis position is in the Stormwater Plan Review Team within Raleigh Stormwater, in the City’s Engineering Services Department. Our collaborative team of nine works closely with others in Raleigh Stormwater and CIP project managers in other City departments. Raleigh Stormwater is a utility-funded group of 80+ professionals working on all aspects of stormwater - from water quality to flooding to asset management.
Dutiesand Responsibilities

- The primary and unique role of the Senior Engineer for GSI is to implement the City’s GSI Policy. This includes:
Meeting with City CIP project teams to explain the GSI policy and to identify GSI opportunities. Identifying locations and strategies to implement GSI. Reviewing GSI opportunity analyses memos. Collaborating with project teams through the permitting phase. - Implementing the Policy also includes:
Writing updates to the GSI Implementation Guide. Training staff and designers on policy and technical aspects of GSI. Keeping up with technical and policy changes in the professional world. Maintaining relationships with CIP teams. - Additionally:
As a member of the Plan Review Team, the Senior Engineer for GSI review projects for regulatory compliance with erosion and sediment control, post-construction stormwater management, riparian buffers, floodplain management, and special watershed districts. This will primarily be for City projects but occasionally will include private development project review. - This role will require the use of a City-owned vehicle in order to travel to and from job sites on a regular basis.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; 3 to 5 years' experience in architecture, engineering, construction management or related work
OR
Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted
Licenses or Certifications- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
