Overview
We are hiring an Asset Management Supervisor - Hydraulic Modeler to join our team! This role oversees the hydraulic modeling component of the City’s water and sewer asset management program and reports to Raleigh Water’s Engineering Manager of the Asset Management Program. This position is essential for maintaining and enhancing the operational efficiency and capacity of the water and sewer system to meet current and future demands.
Work ensures the integration of hydraulic modeling strategies to support infrastructure reliability and capacity planning, performing detailed hydraulic analyses and oversees utility planning tasks to support development reviews, capacity assessments and capital improvement initiatives. It also involves managing asset programs and supporting the maintenance and operation of water and sewer system infrastructure.
This position works closely with the water and wastewater operational divisions, Capital Improvement Program staff, and the Development Review team to respond to hydraulic modeling questions related to the water distribution and sewer collection system. Duties include assisting with conducting in-house water and sewer hydraulic modeling and also will coordinate, manage, and review more complex water and sewer modeling conducted by outside consultants.
This position provides supervision to a technical team as needed.

Raleigh Water has an Asset Management team as part of our Capital Improvement Division. Raleigh Water’s Asset management program is a critical component of the Capital Improvement Program and is responsible for how we manage our many existing assets to maintain reliable water and wastewater services.
Raleigh Water provides clean, award-winning water to more than 650,000 residents throughout Raleigh, Garner, Wake Forest, Rolesville, Knightdale, Wendell and Zebulon. As a large utility provider, Raleigh Water owns and maintains a lot of assets, including five water and wastewater treatment facilities, over 5,000 miles of water and sewer pipes, 130 pump stations, and more than 100,000 valves. The Asset Management Supervisor - Hydraulic Modeler assists with completing water and sewer hydraulic modeling to address questions related to water distribution and sewer collection operations, proposed developments, and planning for future water and sewer capital improvement projects.

Responsibilities- Performs and oversees hydraulic analyses, ensuring alignment with City planning and infrastructure needs, and supporting system operations, maintenance, and the capital improvement program.
- Provides guidance on complex hydraulic analysis strategies, supervising project implementation and adaptations.
- Communicates with internal and external stakeholders, reporting on hydraulic modeling progress, findings, and strategic initiatives.
- Selects and manages engineering consultants, overseeing contractual obligations and outputs.
- Leads the research and integration of new technologies and industry best practices into current operations, and monitors compliance with industry standards.
- Supervises, manages, and evaluates assigned employees, including engineers and technical staff.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field and 5 to 7 years' experience in engineering, construction, project management, or related work
- OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Professional Engineering (PE) Registration
- Principles and practices of hydraulic modeling and analysis and civil engineering
- Understanding complex engineering concepts in water and sewer systems
- Engineering Software Knowledge, including Info Water Pro (water modeling), Info Works ICM (sanitary sewer modeling), ESRI ArcGIS, Cityworks, and other relevant platforms
- Industry best practices, benchmarks, and emerging trends in hydraulic modeling and asset management
- Project management principles and practices
- Qualitative and quantitative research methods for technical analysis and decision-making
- Modern office practices and procedures including standard office equipment and computer applications
