This is a majority on-site role supporting automation upgrades and expansions within regulated pharmaceutical and biotech facilities.
Occasional travel may be required for client meetings and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
Example Responsibilities- Deliver automation and Building Automation System (BAS) projects from feasibility through commissioning and handover.
- Provide technical input across all project phases including design, procurement, construction, governance, commissioning, and qualification.
- Configure, program, and troubleshoot BAS platforms such as Siemens Desigo/Insight, Schneider, Johnson Controls, and Rockwell.
- Prepare and review electrical drawings (panel drawings, wiring diagrams, single-line drawings) and automation documentation including URS, FRS, SDS, DDS, and alarm/valve matrices.
- Support FAT, SAT, and IQ/OQ activities, including protocol development and execution.
- Coordinate vendors, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure delivery against scope, schedule, and budget.
- Supervise critical equipment installations and provide on-site troubleshooting during commissioning and validation phases.
- Maintain strong client relationships and support technical input for proposals when required.
- Ensure compliance with GMP and site safety requirements.
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical building automation experience (8+ preferred), including 3+ years of direct BAS controls experience.
- Strong knowledge of Siemens Insight or Desigo, including reading and modifying code.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and interpret BAS programming logic.
- Working knowledge of GMP, GAMP, data integrity, validation, and change control processes.
- Experience supporting commissioning and qualification in regulated environments.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder coordination, and communication skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers.
- Engineering degree in Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
