Senior Project Manager – Healthcare
Dewberry’s North Carolina and Virginia offices are seeking an experienced senior project manager to serve as the primary liaison between our team and the client. In this pivotal role you will manage projects from initial concept through design, bidding, negotiation and construction administration.
Responsibilities- Maintain primary one-to-one contact with the client.
- Understand the client's needs and goals and that of their organization.
- Draft proposals for new projects with existing clients, track approvals through award, and work with client to develop additional work.
- Attend regular design meetings and issue minutes.
- Lead, organize, and schedule design team staff; coordinate with Design Discipline Managers to plan and assign personnel.
- Oversee design and construction documents, sign and seal as Engineer or Record.
- Prepare personnel loading by task and coordinate with the detailed schedule.
- Create project storyboards and timelines; organize and maintain design folder.
- Document meetings and communications; provide quality control to ensure client needs are met.
- Provide on-the-spot advice and decisions to owner and advise on project billing, collections.
- Supervise and coordinate submission of documents to reviewing authorities and responses to reviews.
- Arrange in-house quality review; conduct bid openings and prepare certified bid tabulation; coordinate CA phase to maintain positive client standing.
- Perform site visits, inspections, and support construction administration requirements.
- Assist with recruiting and evaluating new employees for the MEP healthcare practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Accomplished Professional Engineer (PE) with 15+ years of experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of construction process, familiarity with AIA contracts.
- Self‑motivated with strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Well organized, with a solid understanding of healthcare plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and life‑safety systems; general knowledge of applicable codes, national standards, client design standards, system operation, space requirements, and cost.
