R&D Transformer Design, Diagnostic and Tests Domain Expert (f/m/d)
As a Domain expert, you will join the Transformer R&D team, part of the Technology organization of the Service business unit, contributing to the successful execution of the roadmap defined for your team. In this role you will support and lead Research and Development projects related to transformers, focusing on engineering and diagnostics within the transformer service portfolio, best‑practice collection, standardisation and coordination of improvements within Transformer Service HUBs and local units together with research teams.
Howyou will make an impact:
- Run standardisation projects, propose and develop new engineering and life‑cycle assessment concepts around new services, and simulate their expected performance in real pilots.
- Organise prototyping and testing activities to validate new or existing transformer services.
- Create standard policies, instructions and training material to ensure effective implementation of targeted processes from engineering, quality and knowledge‑transfer standpoints.
- Provide support to other team members and local units when needed (operations, engineering, product management, product marketing).
- Participate in, and assist team members with, a variety of complex operations activities.
- Collaborate globally with scientists from Hitachi Energy Research teams, Technology Centres and engineers from various GPGs (Service / PT / DT).
- Master’s degree in engineering with a major in electrical engineering, physics or a related field.
- More than 5 years of proven experience in electrical design (dielectric, magnetic and thermal calculation), condition assessment and testing of power transformers.
- Experience with advanced numerical simulations (magnetic or dielectric) and proficiency in commercial simulation tools (Ansys, Infolytica, etc.).
- Proven experience in transformer condition assessment and transformer testing.
- Spirit of innovation and out‑of‑the‑box thinking.
- Excellent teamwork skills in international teams and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of self‑motivation and a collaborative, structured, problem‑solving, self‑driven, solutions‑oriented approach.
- Fluent spoken and written English; knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
