Job Purpose
To provide comprehensive engineering design development and support for the Company.
Responsibilities- Plan, schedule, and coordinate the preparation of design drawings with Project Management, Estimating, and Drafting departments to produce signed and sealed construction plans.
- Research and investigate information for design analysis and drawing production.
- Analyze structures using both finite element and classical methods considering all applicable load conditions and code requirements.
- Develop, perform, and prepare designs and drawings for the following items using various materials including concrete, carbon fiber, steel, fiberglass, and timber: two‑dimensional and three‑dimensional structures, one‑ and two‑way slabs, plate and shell structures, scaffold and shoring formwork, and prestressed elements using single‑wire and strand.
- Prepare and review various drawings and other visual aids.
- Review and check other design staff’s work.
- Respond to general inquiries.
- Develop and maintain standard Company design sheets and details.
- Develop programming for prestressed concrete tank, formwork, and associated structure applications.
- Edit and update specifications for conformity and quality assurance.
- Lead and participate in department meetings and fulfill assigned departmental responsibilities.
- Prepare and/or review scope, budget, and assignments for engineering designs.
- Develop and lead inter‑company design presentations.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education and participation in professional societies.
- Participate in applicable code and standard organizations including ACI, AWWA, or ASCE.
- Maintain and enhance the Company’s image through personal demeanor and business conduct.
- Perform other duties as assigned and seasonal projects as necessary.
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or similar ABET/EAC accredited program.
- Licensed Professional Engineer with 4+ years of signing and sealing projects.
- 5‑9 years of experience in structural engineering design and comprehensive knowledge of structural design standards and codes.
- Proficient in MS Office suite.
- Proficiency in Mathcad, AutoCAD and design software such as Staad Pro, NX Nastran, or other finite element analysis programs.
- Proficient in NX Nastran.
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or similar ABET/EAC accredited program.
- Primarily office.
- Occasional travel required.
- Extended hours may be required as necessary to meet deadlines.
