Overview
Accentuate Staffing is partnering with a growing engineering and construction services company hiring for a Field Engineer. This is a direct hire opportunity offering competitive pay, paid certifications, training, and long-term career growth. This position is a step up from a Special Inspector role and is ideal for candidates with a Civil Engineering degree who are interested in field engineering, construction materials testing, structural investigations, and inspections.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in both field and technical environments while supporting construction and infrastructure projects.
- Perform field inspections, materials testing, and engineering support activities on active construction sites.
- Conduct investigations of existing structures and perform non-destructive evaluations of materials.
- Prepare detailed daily field reports and project documentation.
- Review construction plans and blueprints to verify project compliance and specifications.
- Communicate with project managers, contractors, technicians, and clients regarding testing procedures, site conditions, and project updates.
- Maintain testing equipment and follow company safety standards and procedures.
- Perform physically demanding field work including lifting equipment, climbing, bending, squatting, and traversing uneven terrain.
- Support projects that may occasionally require after-hours, night, or weekend work.
- Four-year degree in Civil Engineering required.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Basic understanding of construction plans and blueprints.
- Strong communication, technical documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work in active field environments.
- Engineering Intern (EI) certification.
- NCDOT certifications.
- American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician Level I certification.
- Nuclear Gauge User Certification.
